episode 212
This is my favorite question of the season, and now it’s my turn. The last thing I forgave myself for was assuming that my need for control was because I was a bad person. I have been sitting with this a lot in therapy and bringing up moments that I noticed I needed things to go “my way” and I really beat myself up about this. I thought it was because I wasn’t flexible or I was what we call a “control freak” but I’ve been learning that the need comes from a deep rooted fear from childhood. I’m still in the process of unpacking it all but that realization gave me the space to release my shame and even more so, my control because I didn’t need it as much as I thought I did. It’s a powerful thing when we give ourselves permission to understand who we are deeper without judgment. All of a sudden, grace abounds and forgiveness for ourselves and for others is more abundant than ever. I wish that for you friends and I will continue to wish that for us all.

EPISODE 210 REFLECTION QUESTION
QUESTION | how do you show up for your friends when you are in a hard place in your life?
STACY’S REPLY |
i love this because it’s less of a passive question and truly a deep reflection. i believe showing up for friends in the midst of our worries is a practice. sometimes we won’t get it right. sometimes ego, fear, and pain creep in to feed us narratives that distract us from the wonderful opportunity of service. this is where self-awareness plays a major role. are you making someone else’s moment about you? are you scared to be happy for others because you think it takes something away from you? these are the limiting beliefs and lies that muddle the chance of showing up genuinely and intentionally for others. i learned a long time ago that if i want to get myself off my mind, i need to love on someone else. true friendships are built during highs and lows, so if you are struggling with this reflection, really sit with it. ask yourself what is coming up for you and be willing to investigate the root while knowing your worthiness does not need to be challenged in the process. sending you lots of love friends!

EPISODE 209 REFLECTION QUESTION
QUESTION | what limiting beliefs are currently holding you back?
STACY’S REPLY |
sometimes i sit with my dreams and think, i don’t have the tools or wit to make “all this happen.” i am very aware of those thoughts and so when they happen, i remind myself that if i didn’t have the wit, i wouldn’t have the dream. i am working to believe this wholeheartedly everyday because seriously, why would we get these dreams and visions if we weren’t fit to accomplish them??? the key is not to get stuck on what the dream looks like and hold on to how it feels. do you feel alive? do you feel whole? do you feel in service? In your purpose? well then...leave those limits behind and KEEP GOING!!! THIS video always encourages me in my times of doubt. once you watch it, i would love for you to pass it on :))

EPISODE 208 REFLECTION QUESTION
QUESTION | is it possible that we have misunderstood god completely, and based our behaviors, and interactions with each other, on a model of god that is simply inaccurate?
STACY’S REPLY |
I HAVE TO WRITE THIS ONE IN ALL CAPS PEOPLE BECAUSE WHAT A QUESTION!! I THINK IT'S COMPLETELY POSSIBLE TO MISUNDERSTAND GOD AND I THINK I HAVE DEFINITELY DONE IT. THE PAST TWO YEARS I HAVE BEEN UNLEARNING AND UNWINDING PARTS OF MY BELIEFS THAT WERE BURIED IN GUILT AND SHAME AND NOTHING COULD HAVE PREPARED ME FOR THIS FREEDOM. THE FREEDOM TO LOVE DIFFERENTLY AND DEEPER. TO EMBRACE THE UNKNOWN TO FORGIVE FASTER AND LISTEN MORE. OUR IMAGE OF GOD AFFECTS THE WAY WE SEE EACH OTHER AND IF WE CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT GOD LOVES US UNCONDITIONALLY, HOW CAN WE EVER LOVE OURSELVES OR EACH OTHER THAT WAY? QUESTIONS LIKE THESE ARE WHERE THE BEAUTIFUL WORK IN MY LIFE BEGAN! XO

— brit bennett
EPISODE 207 REFLECTION QUESTION
QUESTION | what do we do with the traits that we inherit from childhood, and how do we deal with them once we’ve left that home behind?
STACY’S REPLY |
I love this question because it’s not something you can immediately answer. You have to sit in the question and in the experiences beyond this question to really answer honestly. Thankfully, I have had a few months to ponder my thoughts here and what I noticed is I took a lot of my upbringing to college (very normal) and started tweaking things little by little through the different people I met. We all have judgments about others and I believe most of that is rooted in fear, lack of understanding or lack of experience. When you connect with someone on a personal level it’s very different from judging them in your head. Every person I met that was “different” than me, challenged me in a critical way. I was either leaning more into my beliefs through a new perspective or deconstructing it. The third option I recently have fallen in love with is having the capacity to hold space for both, my experience and someone else's without judging either. That's where I have found the most love, the most understanding and the most progress. This is one of those questions, that our lifetime experiences will keep answering and I love it!

EPISODE 206 REFLECTION QUESTION
QUESTION | what parts of yourself have you abandoned in order to be liked?
STACY’S REPLY |
this is a question I started asking myself two years ago and recently even more. as I have been peeling back layers getting closer to my authentic self, I am relearning to love the parts of myself that I have abandoned. currently, I'm reckoning with my indecisiveness and the fact that a lot of it comes from my need to please. my first reaction to a situation is usually to make a decision that's easier for everyone instead of the decision that's easier for myself. the more I learn to make decisions for myself, I have also had to become comfortable with disappointing others in the process, in order not to abandon myself. on one end it's an amazing new reality and on the other hand, it's still hard work!! regardless, I refuse to let go of this commitment. It's not always easy, and I don't always get it right but the commitment to express myself as my authentic self is worth every bit of the journey. what about you, what have you abandoned about yourself?

EPISODE 204 REFLECTION PROMPT | make a list of three things that bring you fulfillment right now?
STACY’S ANSWER |
three things that bring me fulfillment right now? whew! one is really incredible song lyrics. lyrics that make me laugh, cry, pause, or call a friend. the second thing is reflecting on my relationships. the people that love me and the people i’m privileged to love. i always feel instantly grateful when i think of the people that have crossed my path and are in my path thus far. and lastly, reading a book that really speaks to me. currently i have a pile of 6 books I want to read, and all i’m thinking about is re-reading untethered soul by michael a. singer hahah. i will probably do that but in the meantime, i am absolutely buying this episode’s book recommendation, the hero’s journey by joseph campbell. if you get to it first, let me know your thoughts!
